Call it change. Call it perseverance. Call it success. Call it strategy. Call it whatever...
I would simply call it victory.
And thanks to Bush's regime, his policies and acts the writing for the Republicans was on the wall. The last straw being the failing economy. Where McCain had hope was from the very fact that ultimately worked against him. Barak Obama being a non-white candidate.
I remembered following the US elections with a lot of eagerness four years ago when John Kerry lost by a very close margin. How I wish we could have done something to change that outcome. John McCain who did one better over 8 years later to qualify as the Republican running for the post of 44th US president had to unfortunately suffer.
There is enough already being said about Barak Obama, a novice a couple of years ago and now 'Mr.President' from 20th January 2009! There are two-three things which caught my attention over the last fortnight with respect to this US presidential election
- Interestingly a set of readers of a popular newspaper were annoyed at the undue attention being given to the election in Indian media
- News channels, publications the world over are already putting together a biography on Obama, his connections with Jakarta, namesake city in Japan, Kenya, the Muslim connection etc.
- Today comparisons are being made as to whether we will see a similar rise of the lower cast to the post of PM in India.
- Muslim community is hoping for a favourable treatment the world over.
- Modiji from Gujarat is hoping to get a US visa!
Wow! So many things have the potential to change! With the man being voted into power with the motto 'Change. Yes we can!' Hope and pray Obama rocks all the way and on all counts!
